Aiming to be a one-of-a-kind company by serving as a coordinator connecting growers with consumers and as a producer creating new value for fresh produce!
Watari is a company with over 50 years of history in the fresh produce business.
As a coordinator, we have expanded our business domains, connecting production areas with consumption areas. Our activities include supplying fresh produce to the retailers and food service indsutry, importing and exporting fresh produce, operating distribution centers, and developing domestic and overseas production areas. And now, Watari is embarking on a new journey as a producer company that creates new value in fresh produce.
In fresh produce, even within the same crop and cultivar, the factors such as production areas and distribution methods can create some difference in quality, freshness and taste. To inform consumers of such product characteristics, we design our original POP displays, packaging, and product labels in-house and make sales promotion plans. Through these initiatives, we achieve the branding and differentiation of our products in the market.
Additionally, through collaboration with production areas, we develop unique products that cater to the diversifying consumer needs. We are also taking on the challenge of creating new value in fresh produce.
Watari will continue to pursue its goal of being a unique and indispensable company for both growers and consumers!

Headquarters
From Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, Watari operates seven business locations nationwide, including one group company. Our headquarters is located in Fuchu City, Tokyo. We have the Corporate Management Department, which oversees general affairs, human resources, finance, business support, and core systems, and the Sales Promotion Planning Department, which handles IT and web-related operations, as well as promotional activities. The Sales Promotion Planning Department has specialists dedicated to planning and designing promotional materials. Most of the promotional tools and materials used for various events and campaigns are produced in-house.

Hokkaido Branch
This branch is primarily responsible for handling fresh produce distribution and vendor operations for supermarket chains rooted in Hokkaido. Equipped with a low-temperature dispatching area, packing processing room, and fresh produce cutting room, it provides a wide range of services to meet our clients’ needs, such as repacking and cutting of fruit and vegetables and store-specific dispatching. Additionally, as a hub for production area development and new product development in Hokkaido, it distributes Hokkaido-grown fresh produce to markets outside the region.

Ebetsu Agricultural Products Center
Due to Hokkaido’s harsh winter, the demand for home delivery services for fresh produce and daily necessities has risen significantly. Watari operates within the distribution center of Hokkaido’s largest home delivery service provider, managing the receiving, quantity and quality inspection, and processing of fresh produce for delivery. Since this home delivery service covers all of Hokkaido, the volume of fresh produce we handle is enormous. This work involves delivering Japan’s seasonal produce amidst Hokkaido’s harsh winter conditions.

Tokyo Branch
Tokyo Branch serves as a trading hub, leveraging its trading company functions from an office situated in the high-rise district of Nishi-Shinjuku. This branch imports various fresh produce items, such as asparagus, okra, squash, baby corn, cherries, grapes, apples and other produce grown in various overseas production countries, such US, Mexico, Oceania and South East Asia, distributing them to wholesale markets, supermarkets and food service businesses across Japan.

Narita Distribution Center
This distribution center was established in Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture, for processing and distribution of imported fresh produce. Located near Narita International Airport, we handle our own shipments (products) after the customs clearance, including quality inspection, repacking or processing of our own imported products. Of course, it is equipped with refrigeration facilities to ensure low-temperature distribution for freshness of our products. It is considered groundbreaking for an import trading company of fresh produce to have our own facilities and independently handle quality inspection, storage, processing, and shipping of our own products. Additionally, we always strive to import high quality products with our own staff inspecting our imported products on arrival and quickly sending feedback to our overseas suppliers.

Kobe Branch
Kobe Branch is located in a office building in Sannomiya area near Kobe Port, serving as a key hub for trading operations. It is responsible for importing fresh produce from China, South Korea, US/Mexico and South America, distributing it mainly to the wholesale markets, supermarkets and food service businesses nationwide. Additionally, it is also handilng various domestic produce for the same clients.

Okinawa Branch
As a business partner of Okinawa’s largest retailer, we respond to a wide range of needs from distribution and vending of fruit and vegetables, to repacking, and picking for each store of supermarkets. We transport large quantities of fruit and vegetables from all over the country to Okinawa by sea and air, and the freshness and high quality of our products are highly regarded by Okinawan consumers. In addition, when sea freight is canceled due to a typhoon, we quickly switch from sea freight to air freight, and continue to make corporate efforts to ensure that fresh fruit and vegetables are never out of stock at any time.

Greenstar
Produce Phils., Inc.
It is a Philippine subsidiary established as a group company of Watari Co., Ltd. for the purpose of producing and exporting fresh okra to Japan. They produce and export fresh okra in the Philippines for Japan during the period from mid-October to late June, when there is no domestic production or a shortage of fresh okra in Japan.
